CTCAE GRADING

How does Burna AI handle adverse event terminology that varies across institutions?

Clinicians describe the same event in many ways, so Burna AI maps clinical language to CTCAE terms before it grades. A curated synonym map links more than 1,100 everyday and drug-specific phrasings to 184 CTCAE terms: CIPN, oxaliplatin neuropathy and stocking-glove neuropathy all resolve to Peripheral sensory neuropathy, for example. More than 80 laboratory abbreviations map to their CTCAE terms, with direction resolved from context for values such as potassium and sodium. Abbreviations are expanded, negated mentions are set aside, and each term resolves to its MedDRA Lowest Level Term code. The source sentence travels with every suggestion, so where a phrase is ambiguous the clinician sees exactly what was written and decides.
